Why Supplier Choice Is Your Biggest Decision
Your supplier decides your product quality, delivery time and how many returns you face. A cheap supplier with poor quality can cost more than a fair supplier with consistent quality.
The 8-Point Checklist
1. Fabric Quality
Ask for fabric composition. For Indian weather, soft cotton, muslin and breathable blends are safe choices. Request a sample to feel the fabric.
2. Stitching And Finish
Check seams, hems, elastic and buttons. Clean inside finish matters for kids with sensitive skin.
3. Accurate Size Chart
Measure sample pieces against the size chart. A wrong size chart is the biggest source of returns.
4. Consistency Across Orders
The first order can be good and the third can be poor. Place a trial order and then a repeat order before scaling up.
5. Clear MOQ And Pricing
Prices, MOQ, size ratio and payment terms should be clear and written. Avoid suppliers who change terms after you confirm.
6. Delivery Timeline
Ask for a realistic dispatch time, especially before festivals and winter.
7. Exchange And Damage Policy
Know what happens if you receive wrong or damaged pieces. Get the policy in writing.
8. Communication
A supplier who answers quickly before the sale usually supports you better after it.
Red Flags
- No fabric details or refusal to share a sample.
- Prices that are far below the market with no explanation.
- Pressure to pay the full amount before any trial.
- No clear contact person or business details.
