Size Problems Eat Your Profit
Every size exchange costs you courier, time and sometimes a damaged piece. For small retailers, even a few exchanges a week hurt the margin. Most of them can be prevented before the order is placed.
Why Sizes Go Wrong
- Customers choose by age, not by measurement.
- Your catalogue shows age labels but no chest and length.
- Different suppliers use different size charts in the same shop.
Fixes That Work
- Show measurements: add chest, length and age in every catalogue post.
- Ask two questions: child height and the size that fits now, before recommending a size.
- Suggest the bigger size when the child is between two sizes, especially for winter wear.
- Keep one size chart per supplier and share it as an image.
- Buy from suppliers whose size chart matches the actual garment. Measure a few pieces on arrival.
Set A Clear Exchange Rule
Write a simple policy: exchange within a fixed number of days, in unused condition, with tags. A clear rule reduces arguments and repeat requests.
Track It
Note which items and sizes come back most. If one design returns often, the fault may be the cut, not the customer.
