A Late Delivery Can Cost You The Whole Season
Diwali, wedding season and winter sell in short windows. If the stock arrives after the peak, you either discount it or carry it for a year. Delay risk cannot be removed completely, but it can be reduced.
1. Order Earlier Than You Think
Work backwards from the date you want stock on the shelf. Add a buffer of one to two weeks for transport and checking.
2. Get A Dispatch Date In Writing
Do not accept only "soon". Ask for a date and a contact person for updates.
3. Split The Order
Instead of one big lot, take the fast-moving items first and the rest later.
4. Use Pre-Order Booking
Booking designs in advance gives the supplier time to plan fabric and production.
5. Keep A Backup Supplier
Do not depend on one source for all your festive stock. Keep a small order with a second supplier.
6. Pay Smart
For new suppliers, avoid paying everything upfront. Agree a part payment and balance on dispatch or delivery, as per mutually agreed terms.
Festive Calendar To Plan Around
| Season | Order Stock About |
|---|---|
| Diwali | 8 to 10 weeks before |
| Wedding season | 6 to 8 weeks before |
| Winter | 8 to 10 weeks before |
These are planning guides, not guarantees. Confirm timelines with your supplier.
